Global Neighbors, the newsletter of the English as a Foreign Language Interest Section of TESOL International Association, featured the MEET (Mobile Education for English Teachers) in a recent report by Claire Bradin Siskin:
“The purpose of this ingenious project is to provide training materials for English language teachers in rural areas. These teachers have “feature phones” rather than smartphones. She produced videos that show teaching techniques. This content has been pre-loaded and distributed on micro-SD cards that can be viewed on the teachers’ phones.”
Currently, the project has four videos that show pre-service and in-service teachers in rural, village schools in Gujarat, India using five key techniques for stimulating thinking and speaking in English.
